Mayor of Hardware: Adding Versatility to Your Baskets?
By Richie DeMarco | 01/16/2012 10:15:00 AM
Your client has her heart set on chrome baskets, and no matter how you design the closet there is only a 20-inch space available. What do you do?
Try to convince her that drawers would be better suited for the space. This could work as long as changing the baskets to drawers doesn’t price you out of the job.
You could build out the vertical panels to accommodate an 18-inch basket. Your client will be happy with this solution, but will you? How much time will it take you to build out those verticals?

Another option is Rev-A-Shelf’s top mount basket bracket. It’s a “U” bracket that screws underneath a fixed shelf and allows the basket to float in the middle. This is a cost effective way to put a basket in any opening. You could also use this bracket to hang a basket under a countertop in a laundry room or a child’s play room.
Your local Rev-A-Shelf distributor should be able to give you more info or you can contact me at richdemarco@optonline.net.
