The 2012 Consumer Electronics (CES) show is taking place in Las Vegas this week and some of the new home innovations include smart technology management systems for the home, including the garage.
With the introduction of these smart management systems by companies such as Lowes with Iris and Tri Cascade with Elka, I'm curious if some of the new technologies will impact interior design, from lighting systems in walk-in closets to the electronics in home office centers, etc.
Pella, a manufacturer of windows and doors, announced that its new product SmartSync, which will integrate with the Iris home management system, will allow users to control certain products via remote control or by computers and smartphones.
Craftsman, a Sears brand and manufacturer of hand and power tools, introduced several new garage innovations at CES 2012 including the Assurelink Garage Door Opener, which users can control via their smartphones; and Assurelink Lighting gives the user the capability to control the lighting system on their smartphone. Craftsman also introduced a tool storage system that incorporates technology that will allow people to use their iPod and Bluetooth devices with it.
These are just a couple of the new innovations for the home that are designed to intersect with our busy, digital lives. Let me know if you think smart home systems will have an impact on the way you design your storage spaces.
